Working visit of Academician Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to Istanbul University, Istanbul, 10 February 2025
On 10 February 2025, Academician Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General visited Istanbul University and met with the Rector of the University Professor Osman Bulent Zulfikar and the leadership of the University.
The PABSEC Secretary General thanked the Rector for the warm welcome and informed about the current and future activities of the Assembly. During the conversation were discussed the results of the First Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States with the participation of the Rectors of Leading Turkish Universities, which was organized in Istanbul on 14-15 February 2024 upon the initiative of the PABSEC International Secretariat.
The Rector of Istanbul University Professor Osman Bulent Zulfikar thanked the PABSEC Secretary General for his efforts and highly appreciated the importance of the First Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States. He also noted the importance of taking concrete steps within the framework of the Joint Communique and confirmed the invitation of Istanbul University to host the Second Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States in Istanbul at Istanbul University.
During the meeting, the Rector of Istanbul University and the PABSEC Secretary General discussed organizational issues and possible topics for discussion. It was decided to hold the Second Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences in Istanbul on 27 June 2025. It was noted that the relevant invitation will be sent to the participants in due course.
The PABSEC Secretary General was accompanied by Mr. Ali Gürkan Üstündağ, Administrative Officer of the PABSEC International Secretariat.
