Visit of the PABSEC Delegation to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, 9-10 December 2021
On 9-10 December 2021, the PABSEC Delegation composed of Mr. Peter Kanev, Head of the PABSEC Bulgarian Delegation, Chairman of the PABSEC Economic, Trade and Financial Affairs Committee, and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, visited the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and had meetings with its leadership.
During the meeting of the PABSEC Secretary General with Mr. Ivan Melnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, were discussed the main issues and documents for the preparatory work for the organization of the 59th PABSEC General Assembly, to be held in Russia, in June 2022, under the Presidency of the State Duma. The Secretary General also informed Mr. Melnikov on the results of the 58th PABSEC General Assembly and on the future plans.
During the meeting of the PABSEC Delegation with Mr. Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, who. on behalf of the Chairman of the State Duma, assumed the PABSEC Presidency, were discussed the results of the 58th PABSEC General Assembly, procedural issues of the formation of a new PABSEC Russian delegation, as well as the possible events within the framework of the Russian Presidency, in the first half of 2022. The meeting was also attended by some members of the PABSEC Russian Delegation from the State Duma and the Federation Council. It was also noted that from 2022, the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia becomes a full-fledged member of the PABSEC.
During the meeting of the PABSEC Secretary General with Mr. Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, were discussed the contribution of the PABSEC Russian Delegation to strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, also the prospects for closer inter-parliamentary cooperation in the Black Sea region and issues regarding the current activities of the PABSEC.
During the meeting with the members of the PABSEC Russian Delegation, the PABSEC Secretary General expressed his gratitude for their constructive work for many years and discussed the work program of the PABSEC Committees in the first half of 2022. It was noted that it is necessary to nominate the members in the new PABSEC Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee, the first meeting of which will be held in the first half of 2022.
