Visit of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to the Permanent International Secretariat of the BSEC, Istanbul, 5 October 2021
On 5 October 2021, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a visit to the Permanent International Secretariat of the BSEC Organization and met with Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary General of the BSEC PERMIS.
The PABSEC Secretary General congratulated Ambassador Comanescu on the starting of his term of office of the Secretary General of the Permanent International Secretariat of the BSEC Organization and wished him success in this important undertaking. During the conversation, the PABSEC Secretary General informed his colleague about the current and future activities of the Assembly and stressed that after June 2021, the PABSEC Presidency is fulfilled by Mr. Ludovic Orban, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania. The PABSEC Secretary General stressed that the Parliamentary Assembly contributes to the strengthening of the multilateral cooperation in the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and expressed interest in organizing joint events.
Ambassador Lazar Comanescu informed the PABSEC Secretary General about the current activities in the BSEC Organization within the framework of the Georgian Chairmanship-in-Office and about the structural changes in the activities of the BSEC PERMIS. Ambassador Comanescu also agreed with the opinion on the need to strengthen cooperation between the BSEC and the PABSEC by holding joint events and enhancing the cooperation between the two secretariats.
It was generally agreed that due to the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic, the participation of the countries of the Wider Black Sea Region in both of activities within the BSEC and the PABSEC became less effective. The sides expressed hope that the situation improves soon, and the work resumes in the usual format.
