The PABSEC’s Participation in the Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, 30 June 2021
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General participated in the 43rd Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, which took place online, on 30 June 2021.
The Meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgia, the Hellenic Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Turkey, Ukraine, as well as representatives of the BSEC Related Bodies, Observers and Sectoral Dialogue Partners.
Ms. Olta Xhacka, BSEC Chairperson-in-Office and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, and Ambassador Michael B. Christides, Secretary General of the BSEC PERMIS addressed the participants.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on various aspects of the activities of the Organization and the cooperation in the BSEC region. The Council took note of the reports of the meetings of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, discussed and adopted the draft resolutions, the decisions and the recommendations presented by the Committee of Senior Officials.
In his speech, the PABSEC Secretary General informed the participants that the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia became a full member of the PABSEC. The PABSEC Secretary General informed about the results of the 57th PABSEC General Assembly, which took place on 22 June 2021, and about the activities of the PABSEC Committees, in the second half of 2021. Mr. Hajiyev also briefly informed the participants about the official visit of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia to the PABSEC International Secretariat on 23 June 2021, about the participation of the PABSEC delegation in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum on 18-19 June 2021 and about the visit of the PABSEC Secretary General to the Parliament of Georgia, on 24 June 2021.
In the final part of the Meeting, the BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office was passed over from the Republic of Albania to Georgia, whose term of office begins on 1 July 2021 (1 July - 31 December 2021).
