The PABSEC Participation in the 13th International Black Sea Symposium, Athens, 2 November 2023
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, and Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, Deputy Secretary General, participated to the 13th International Black Sea Symposium on “The Black Sea in crises: challenges and opportunities in an unstable environment”, organized by the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) on 2 November 2023 in Athens.
The Symposium consisted of three main parts: 1. The Future of Regional Cooperation, 2. Economic Cooperation - Fields of Convergence in the Black Sea, and 3. Climate Crisis - Looking at the Big Picture.
The participants in the first panel were Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, Amb. Lazar Comanescu, BSEC PERMIS Secretary General, Mr. Achraf Bouali, Head of the OECD Istanbul Centre, Mr. Gladden Pappin, President of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA), Mr. Marco Ricceri, Secretary General of the EURISPES Institute and Mr. Georgios Mitrakos, Director General of the ICBSS.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, congratulated the International Centre for Black Sea Studies for excellent organization of the event. He congratulated the representative of the Turkish BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office and the Republic of Türkiye for its 100th anniversary. Mr. Hajiyev highlighted the importance of the Black Sea region and underlined the value of every nation living in the region willing to enhance cooperation for security and prosperity in spite of the existing conflicts. He noted special importance of strengthening cooperation and the role of the parliamentarians who take necessary decisions for implementing goals and objectives of the BSEC. He also emphasized the 3C principles - Cooperation, Coordination, Correlation, as the main factors that lead to shaping the new Black Sea Culture in the Wider Black Sea Region.
