The PABSEC Participation in the 10th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries, Turkistan (Kazakhstan), 27-28 September 2021

Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the Tenth Jubilee Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA), which was organized in the spiritual capital of the Turkic world, Turkistan (Kazakhstan) on 27-28 September 2021.

The Assembly was attended by the parliamentarians from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, as well as the representatives of the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan and Hungary, and international organizations.

The speeches at the jubilee session were made by Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin, TURKPA Chairman-in-Office, Chairman of the Mazhilis (lower chamber) of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Talant Mamytov, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mr. Ulugbek Inoyatov, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ms. Marta Matrai, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, and representatives of international organizations.

In his speech, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General noted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the PABSEC and the TURKPA, as well as the importance of international parliamentary cooperation for solving topical problems. Mr. Hajiyev informed about the current work of the PABSEC and the planned activities for the future.

During the Plenary Session, the results of the ten-year work were summed up underlining the perspectives for further cooperation among the member countries. The plenary session adopted the Turkistan Declaration. The next Eleventh Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries will be held in 2022 in Kyrgyzstan.

On the sidelines of the Plenary Session, the PABSEC Secretary General met with Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin, TURKPA Chairman-in-Office, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the Meeting the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two Assemblies was noted. Also, meetings were held with the representatives of international organizations participating in the gathering.
