The 54th Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee, Sochi, Russian Federation, 25-26 September 2019
The 54th Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee was held in Sochi on 25-26 September 2019 upon the invitation of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar Region.
At the opening of the Meeting, the participants were welcomed by Mr. Mikhail Emelianov, Chairman of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee, Ms. Olga Timofeeva Deputy Chair of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Mr. Viktor Filonov, Chairman of the Sochi City Assembly, Mr. Alexey Pereverzev, Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of the Krasnodar Region, Mr. Yuri Burlachko, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar Region (video connection), Mr. Taras Yarosh, Chairman of the Union of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the City of Sochi, and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
The national delegations of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, Serbia, and Turkey took part in the Meeting. Mr. Mikhail Emelianov, Chairman of the Committee (Russia) chaired the Meeting. The Committee discussed and adopted the draft Report and draft Recommendation on “Legal and Political Aspects of the Development of Transport Routes in the BSEC Region”.
The Committee unanimously re-elected Mr. Mikhail Emelianov, Head of the PABSEC Russian Delegation, to the post of the Chairman of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee for the two-year term starting with October 2019.
The Committee also took note of the information on the current activities of the BSEC Organization, presented by Mr. Traian Chebeleu, Deputy Secretary General of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat.
In accordance with the Calendar for 2020, the next 55th Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee will be held in Baku on 8-9 April 2020. The main issue of the next meeting will be the “Legislative Framework for the realization of the Projects connecting Europe and Asia (One Belt - One Road)”. The Rapporteur on the Report will be Mr. Igor Becic, Head of the PABSEC Serbian Delegation.
