The 54th Meeting of the PABSEC Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee was organised online on 7 July 2020

The 54th Meeting of the PABSEC Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee was organised online on 7 July 2020 with the technical support of the PABSEC International Secretariat.

The national delegations of Albania. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine took part in the Meeting. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Metin Gundogdu, Chairman of the Committee (Turkey).

The Committee approved the draft Report and Recommendation 175/2020 “Preservation and Contemporary Role of Historical Healthcare Facilities in the BSEC Member States”, which will be submitted to the 55th Plenary Session of the General Assembly.

The Committee elected Mr. Mykola Skoryk, member of the PABSEC Ukrainian delegation, to the post of the Vice-Chairman of the PABSEC Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee for the term of two years. The election of the second Vice-Chair of the Committee was postponed.

The Committee also took note of the information on the current activities of the BSEC Organization, presented by Mr. Sergey Goncharenko, Deputy Secretary General of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat.

The venue of the next 55th Meeting of the Committee will be determined later. The main item on the agenda of the 55th Meeting will be “The Role of Parliaments in Combating Pandemic – Social Aspect”. The Rapporteur on the Report will be Mr. Musa Guliyev, member of the PABSEC Azerbaijani delegation.

At the end of the Meeting general hope was expressed for speedy normalization and constructive input of all delegations to the Assembly activities.
