Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between PABSEC and the Balkan and Black Sea Commission of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of the European Union (CPMR), Istanbul, 15 April 2025
On 15 April 2025, Mr. Fokion Zaimis, President of the Balkan and Black Sea Commission of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of the European Union (CPMR), Deputy Governor of e Achaia of Western Greece Region, visited the PABSEC International Secretariat and met with the Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
The PABSEC Secretary General welcomed the guest and expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Balkan and Black Sea Commission and the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of the European Union have shown interest in cooperation with the PABSEC. He expressed hope that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will contribute to the enhancement of cooperation.
The President of the Balkan and Black Sea Commission informed about the activities of the Commission and the CPMR and explained to the PABSEC Secretary General their structure and objectives. He also expressed hope for future cooperation and proposed to hold a joint event in 2026.
The Secretary General signed the Memorandum of Understanding, which had already been signed by Mr. Davide Strangis, Acting Secretary General of the CPMR.
The cooperation between the CPMR and PABSEC within the framework of the MoU is aimed at strengthening relations and improving cooperation between local and regional authorities and parliaments of the BSEC Member States in the fields of transport, social development, tourism, energy, ecology and culture.
The meeting was also attended by PABSEC Deputy Secretaries General Mr. Borys Kolisnychenko, Mr. Cemal Ozturk, Ms. Valentina-Antoaneta Cobzareanu, and Ms. Natia Gaprindashvili, Advisor to the PABSEC Secretary General.
