Participation of the PABSEC International Secretariat in the webinar “Transport in the Balkan and Black Sea region”, 19 November 2020
Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, attended the webinar entitled “Transport in the Balkan and Black Sea region”, co-organised by the CPMR Balkan and Black Sea Commission (CPMR BBSC), the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) and the Hellenic Institute of Transport of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (HIT CERTH), on 19 November 2020.
The objective of this webinar was to update participants on the latest developments of the main strategies that apply in the Balkans and the Black Sea region providing the framework for cooperation in the field of transport, understand the contribution of accessibility to regional development, and identify the skills that will be required in the short- and mid-future by the different sectors of transport.
Mr. Valentin MOLDOVEANU, Tulcea County Councillor (Romania), Acting President of the Balkan and Black Sea Commission (BBSC) of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) opened the event and several experts and scientists took the floor during the three parts of the webinar.
The topics that the webinar focused on were: a/ Policies framework in the area, b/ Accessibility as a component of regional development, c/ Skills for sustainable regional development.
The webinar built on the results of the Regional Stakeholders Conference “Black Sea Synergy: the way forward” (Athens, 8 November 2019), organised by the ICBSS within the framework of the ENI East Instrument.
