Participation of the PABSEC International Secretariat in the 10th Green Energy Investments Forum, Athens, 10-11 October 2023

Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, participated in the 10th Green Energy Investments Forum which was organized by the Energy Policy and Development Center (KEPA) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the auspices of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, on 10-11 October 2023, in Athens.

The 10th Green Energy Investments Forum brought together policymakers, diplomats, academicians, and businesses to review energy and climate-change challenges and promote multilateral cooperation in the Black Sea region. As it was underlined by several speakers, the latest extreme weather phenomena, warn us that we should move from declarations to allocations of the necessary funds for both mitigation and adaptation actions. Taking into consideration that mitigation of climate change phenomena requires coordinated actions at a global scale, the issues of adaptation at the regional level become crucial for societies.

Towards that aim, the BSEC-Green Energy Network which has been established with the aim to promote scientific cooperation among the academic institutions of the region on green energy and climate change issues, makes a new effort to enhance the list of its members and to further facilitate cooperation among extrovert market players relevant to the green transformation of the economies not only in our region but worldwide.

Among the panelists were the Minister of Environment and Energy of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Theodoros Skylakakis, the BSEC Secretary General Amb. Lazar Comanescu, the ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Greece Mr. Cagatay Erciyes, the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Greece Mr. Andrei Popov, the head of KEPA and coordinator of the BSEC – Green Energy Network Prof. Dimitrios Mavrakis, representatives of the Embassies of the BSEC member countries, several academicians from Black Sea region universities, representatives of the BSEC related bodies, representatives of prestigious energy firms, etc.
