PABSEC Participation in the Meeting of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, Istanbul, 5 April 2022

On 5 April 2022, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, took part in the Meeting of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye dedicated to the "Transport and Logistics Master Plan - Transport 2053 Vision Launch" which was presented by Mr. Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye. At the event, Mr. Hajiyev was accompanied by Mr. Ali Gürkan Üstündağ, Administrator of the PABSEC International Secretariat.

Mr. Karaismailoğlu stated that Türkiye stands at the center of global trade volume and in this direction, it is aimed to benefit more from this potential by focusing on mobility, logistics, and digitalization in transportation and infrastructure. It has been emphasized that the global factors directing the transportation of the future will be urbanization, sustainability, new generation transportation, and smart transportation systems.

Within the framework of the 2053 Vision, it is planned to increase the share of the railway in freight transportation by 7 times and in passenger transportation by 6 times. By 2053, the number of provinces connected by high-speed trains will increase from 8 to 52, and the number of airports will hit 61. It has been stated that by 2053, the dual road network in the country will reach 38 thousand kilometers and the highway network to 8 thousand kilometers. Mr. Karaismailoğlu stressed that green port practices will be expanded and by 2053 the number of port facilities in the country will be increased to 255.

Mr. Minister stated that from 2022 to 2053, 198 billion dollars will be invested in the field of transportation. Mr. Karaismailoglu stressed that within the framework of this plan, the Republic of Türkiye will reach a more sustainable, safe, environmentally friendly, accessible, comprehensive, fast, and technologically more innovative transportation sector with a new, fast and comfortable infrastructure.
