PABSEC Participation in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Antalya, 11-13 April 2025
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum on “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World”, which was held at the Nest Congress Centre in Antalya from 11 to 13 April 2025 under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Türkiye.
At the opening of the Forum, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, addressed the participants and stressed the importance of diplomacy, especially in today's challenging global environment. He expressed hope that the Antalya Forum would be beneficial not only for diplomacy but also for humanity, and that the upcoming discussions would bring valuable contribution to finding solutions to global problems. The Forum was attended by 20 Heads of State or Government, over 70 ministers, including 50 Ministers of Foreign Affairs, about 60 high-ranking representatives of international organizations, as well as over 4000 guests, including representatives of business community, civil society, public figures, scientists, and students.
The PABSEC Secretary General took part in the round table on “Parliamentary Diplomacy in Global Governance”. The PABSEC Secretary General noted the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in international relations, as well as the importance of interparliamentary dialogue and interparliamentary assemblies, that significantly contribute to aligning national policies with global interests. He emphasized the complexity of the situation in the Black Sea region and in this regard emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting peace and development.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, met with Ms. Berris Ekinci, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and briefed her on the activities of PABSEC and the upcoming events within the framework of Azerbaijani PABSEC Presidency. The PABSEC Secretary General handed the PABSEC Medal of Honour for Mr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye.
On the sidelines of the Forum, the PABSEC Secretary General held talks with colleagues from parliaments of different countries and international parliamentary organizations.
