Meeting of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Skopje, 5 March 2024

On 5 March 2024, within the framework of organizing the Meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Social and Humanitarian Policy in Skopje, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, met with Mr. Jovan Mitreski, President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The PABSEC Secretary General thanked the President of the Assembly for organizing the first PABSEC meeting after the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia joined the PABSEC and for personal participation in the opening ceremony. He emphasized the constructive contribution of the delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia to the activities of the PABSEC. The Secretary General informed the President about the current activities of the Assembly and its committees. The Secretary General also presented information on the Declaration on Strengthening the Status of the Assembly, which was signed by the Speakers of the PABSEC Parliaments in 2016 and proposed signing it.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia noted the role and importance of the Wider Black Sea Region and expressed interest in closer cooperation within the PABSEC framework. The President emphasized that the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia is ready to sign the Declaration within a time frame acceptable for the Assembly.

The Meeting was attended by Ms. Cvetanka Ivanova, Secretary General of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.
