The PABSEC’s Participation in the Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, 17 December 2021

Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, and Mr. Miltiadis Makrigyannis, Deputy Secretary General, participated in the 44th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, which took place online, on 17 December 2021.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgia, the Hellenic Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Turkey, Ukraine, as well as representatives of the BSEC Related Bodies, Observers and Sectoral Dialogue Partners.

Mr. David Zankaliani, BSEC Chairman-in-Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary General of the BSEC PERMIS addressed the participants.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on various aspects of the activities of the Organization and the cooperation in the BSEC region. The Council took note of the reports of the meetings of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, discussed and adopted the draft resolutions, the decisions, and the recommendations presented by the Committee of Senior Officials.

In his speech, the PABSEC Secretary General informed the participants about the results of the 58th PABSEC General Assembly, which took place on 22 November 2021, and about the activities of the PABSEC Committees, in the first half of 2022. Mr. Hajiyev stressed that the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia becomes a full-fledged member of the PABSEC starting with 1 January 2022. Mr. Hajiyev also briefly informed the participants about the visit of the PABSEC delegation to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on 9-10 December 2021, which assumed the PABSEC Presidency.

In the final part of the Meeting, the BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office was passed over from Georgia to the Republic of Moldova, whose term of office begins on 1 January 2022 (1 January – 30 June 2022).
