PABSEC Participation in the 13th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), Antalya, 8-10 January 2023
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, attended the 13th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), which was held in Antalya on 8-10 January 2023 at the invitation of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
The Plenary Session was opened by Mr. Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. The Speakers of the Parliaments of the Member Countries of the Assembly and Mr. Mohammed Reza Majidi, Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly addressed the opening of the event.
The Plenary Session was attended by the parliamentary delegations from 27 APA member countries, as well as representatives of inter-parliamentary assemblies and international organizations. The main topic of the session was “Promoting Multilateralism in the Changing Global Dynamics”. Within the framework of the session, meetings of the APA committees on political issues, on culture and social issues, and on economic issues and sustainable development were held. Following the session, the Antalya Declaration was adopted.
On the sidelines of the session, the PABSEC Secretary General met with Mr. Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, PABSEC President. The Secretary General informed the PABSEC President about the ongoing activities of the PABSEC and about the preparatory work for holding the Summit on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Assembly and the 61st General Assembly under the Turkish PABSEC Presidency.
During the conversation with Mr. Cemal Ozturk, PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation, the PABSEC Secretary General discussed the organizational issues of holding the spring meetings of the PABSEC committees, the upcoming meeting of the PABSEC Standing Committee in January 2023 in Istanbul, the meeting of the Draft Budget and Auditing Commission, as well as the Summit on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Assembly and the 61st PABSEC General Assembly.
