Participation of the PABSEC International Secretariat to the OECD Webinar “What will education look like in the future?”, 28 January 2021
Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, attended the Webinar titled “What will education look like in the future?”, hosted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the “Education and Employers” institution, on 28 January 2021.
Experts, academicians, education professionals and parliamentarians discussed the changes in education in the framework of the current pandemic. Speakers pointed that the events of the past year have accelerated our increasing familiarity and use of technology and online learning. The new possibilities and challenges in higher education were discussed and four different scenarios were presented describing what education might look like in the future, and what each scenario might mean for students.
Special attention was attributed to how the young people are best prepared for the future while at the same time ensuring necessary workforce capacity.
The webinar was attended by more than 200 people who through voting determined the most likely scenario.
