Working Visit of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Ankara, 14 October 2021
On 14 October 2021, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Ankara and met with Mr. Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT).
the PABSEC Secretary General thanked the Speaker for the continuous attention to the activities of the Assembly and stressed the constructive contribution of the GNAT to the work of the PABSEC and the International Secretariat. He informed the Speaker about the current preparatory organizational work for the 58th PABSEC General Assembly, which will take place on 23-25 November 2021 within the framework of the PABSEC Romanian Presidency. The PABSEC Secretary General particularly emphasized the importance of the PABSEC Turkish Presidency in 2023, when the Assembly celebrates its 30th anniversary and discussed with the Speaker possible scenarios for organising the celebration.
The Speaker of the GNAT thanked the PABSEC Secretary General for his cooperation and expressed the hope for further fruitful cooperation. He stressed that the relationship between the PABSEC and the GNAT contributes to the solution of many important issues facing the Black Sea Region. The Speaker of the GNAT highly appreciated the work of the PABSEC International Secretariat, expressed full support for the activities of the PABSEC, and assured that the Turkish Parliament and the PABSEC Turkish Delegation will continue to bring their contribution to the activities of the Assembly.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, met with Mr. Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoglu, Secretary General of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
The PABSEC Secretary General expressed his gratitude to Mr. Kumbuzoglu for his support in resolving working issues related to the activities of the PABSEC International Secretariat. He informed the Secretary General of the GNAT about the preparatory work for the 58th PABSEC General Assembly to be held in November 2021 in Romania and invited him to this event. The PABSEC Secretary General also informed the Secretary General that during the PABSEC Presidency of the Turkish Parliament in 2023, the Assembly will celebrate its 30th anniversary and shared with him the plans for the celebration.
The GNAT Secretary General assured the PABSEC Secretary General that the Turkish Parliament will take all necessary measures for the successful implementation of the PABSEC Turkish Presidency, which will become an important event in the history of the PABSEC. He also expressed confidence that the 58th General Assembly to be held in Romania will be successful.
The PABSEC Secretary General met with Mr. Cemal Ozturk, PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev expressed gratitude to the PABSEC Turkish delegation and personally to Mr. Ozturk for the constant support provided by the Turkish Parliament to the Parliamentary Assembly and the International Secretariat. The PABSEC Secretary General also discussed with Mr. Ozturk the results of the meetings of the three PABSEC Committees and the details of the preparatory work for the 58th PABSEC General Assembly.
Mr. Cemal Ozturk noted the professional work of the PABSEC International Secretariat and expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General for the constructive work and continuous coordination in the difficult conditions of the pandemic. He assured that the Turkish Parliament and the PABSEC Turkish Delegation will continue to contribute to the activities of the Assembly.
