Working visit of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to Sofia (Bulgaria), 28 November 2024
On 28 November 2024, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia and met with its President, PABSEC Special Representative to the Organizations on Science and Education, Academician Julian Revalski.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, informed Mr. Revalski on the preparatory work for the 64th PABSEC General Assembly, which will be held in Yerevan on 10-12 December 2024. The Secretary General emphasized the role of further strengthening multilateral cooperation of the states of the region in the field of education and science through bilateral and multilateral events, scientific conferences, symposia, and especially noted the role of Bulgaria. It was also underlined that the PABSEC Presidency in the second half of 2025 will be fulfilled to the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.
During the meeting, the results of the First Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States, organized in February 2024, were discussed and confidence was expressed that the Second Meeting will be held in 2025, which will also contribute to the development of joint scientific and educational projects in priority areas and the expansion of cooperation at the regional level.
Academician Revalski welcomed the efforts of the PABSEC and its International Secretariat in developing interparliamentary cooperation and enlarging relations in the field of science and education. He awarded the PABSEC Secretary General with the Medal of Honour of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for his great contribution to the raising the role of sciences in the Black Sea region.
