Working visit of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to Ankara, 24-25 February 2021

Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Ankara on 24-25 February 2021.

On 24 February 2021, the PABSEC Secretary General visited the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and met with Mr. Cemal Ozturk, Head of the PABSEC Turkish delegation. The Secretary General expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Turkish Parliament and the PABSEC Turkish Delegation for the continuous support provided by Turkish Parliament to the Parliamentary Assembly and its International Secretariat. The PABSEC Secretary General also informed about the current preparatory work carried out by the PABSEC for the spring committee meetings and the 57th PABSEC General Assembly, which will be held in June 2021 under the Presidency of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. Mr. Cemal Ozturk noted the professional work of the PABSEC International Secretariat and expressed gratitude to Secretary General for the constructive work and regular coordination in the difficult times of the pandemic. He assured that the Turkish Parliament and the PABSEC Turkish delegation will continue to contribute to the activities of the Assembly.

On 25 February 2021, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Turkey Andrii Sybiha. The constructive contribution of the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to strengthening parliamentary cooperation in the Black Sea region was underlined. The Secretary General informed the Ambassador of Ukraine about the results of the autumn meetings of the PABSEC Committees, as well as the preparatory work for the PABSEC spring committee meetings and the 57th PABSEC General Assembly. The importance of strengthening cooperation in the Black Sea region was noted, especially given the complicated situation due to the coronavirus infection.
