Working visit of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to Ankara, 29-30 July 2021
On 29-30 July 2021, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Ankara and had meetings at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey as well as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
During the meeting with Mr. Nadir Alpaslan, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the PABSEC Secretary General presented information on the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in the field of tourism development in the Black Sea region. The Secretary General expressed regret that in recent days forest fires have engulfed a number of resort regions in Turkey. The PABSEC Secretary General informed about the current preparatory work of the PABSEC and its International Secretariat for the 58th PABSEC General Assembly to be held in Romania on 23-25 November 2021. The importance of organizing joint events on the issues related to culture, tourism and education was noted.
Mr. Nadir Alpaslan thanked the PABSEC Secretary General for the visit and for his concern over the emergency of large-scale forest fires in Turkey. He expressed full support for the PABSEC activities and the idea of organizing joint events on the issues related to culture, tourism and education. The contribution of Turkey to strengthening cooperation within the framework of the PABSEC was also noted.
The PABSEC Secretary General met with Mr. Faruk Kaymakci, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. The PABSEC Secretary General informed about the current and planned activities of the Parliamentary Assembly and the preparatory work for the 58th PABSEC General Assembly to be held in Romania on 23-25 November 2021. The PABSEC Secretary General noted the constructive role of the Turkish delegation in the work of the Assembly and especially emphasized the significance of the PABSEC Presidency of the Turkish Parliament in 2023, which coincides with the period of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PABSEC.
Mr. Faruk Kaymakci expressed gratitude to the PABSEC Secretary General for the visit and expressed his interest in the active participation of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the PABSEC meetings. He assured the Secretary General of the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey to the activities of the Assembly and its International Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Mr. Rauf Denktas, Deputy Director General for Multilateral Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, met with Mr. Cemal Ozturk,PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation. Mr. Asaf Hajiyev expressed gratitude to the Turkish Delegation for the effective contribution it brings to the implementation of the tasks and objectives of the Black Sea Cooperation and underlined the importance of the PABSEC Presidency of the Turkish Parliament in 2023, which coincides with the period of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PABSEC.
