Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, in the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), 21-24 November 2024, Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia
The 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) organized by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), were held in Phnom Penh on 21-24 November 2024. More than 200 delegates from 57 political parties from 42 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations, took part in the four-day work of the Assembly.
At the Opening Ceremony, the participants were addressed by the Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and Honorary President of the 12th ICAPP Assembly Samdech Techo Hun Sen, as well as the Vice-Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party, Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet.
The aim of the event was to promote dialogue and cooperation among Asian political parties, to address regional and global issues. The main theme of the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties was “The Quest for Peace and Reconciliation”. It was emphasized that the growing conflicts in the world pose multiple threats to regional and global security.
At the closing ceremony of the General Assembly, chaired by the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Vice-Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party and President of the 12th ICAPP General Assembly Hun Manet, the Phnom Penh Declaration was adopted, reflecting the main content of the discussions held at the event and underlining the importance of observing territorial integrity.
In his speech at the closing of the event, the PABSEC Secretary General emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the world and in the Black Sea region, where conflicts continued. He informed about the activities of the PABSEC and emphasized that the motto of the Assembly’s work is “peace, cooperation and reconciliation”.
On the sidelines of the 12th ICAPP General Assembly, the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) was held, hosted by the National Assembly of Cambodia. The event was dedicated to the theme “The Search for Peace, Reconciliation and Tolerance.” The session focused on the development and issuance of landmark documents, including the Phnom Penh Declaration and the Universal Peace Charter for People and the Planet.
As the guest of honour of the IPTP session, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, signed the book for guests of honour. An exchange of views on the possibility of developing relations and signing a memorandum of cooperation between PABSEC and IPTP took place with IPTP representatives. The issue of granting the Cambodian Parliament the status of a PABSEC partner was also discussed.
