Participation of Mr. Fuat Küçükaydın, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General in the SETA Panel “The PKK-YPG in Syria”, Istanbul 14 February 2018
On 14 February 2018, Mr. Fuat Küçükaydın, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, participated in the Panel “The PKK-YPG in Syria”, organised by the SETA Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research, in Istanbul.
The panel was moderated by Mr. Enes Bayrakli, Director of the SETA European Studies, and attended by the representatives from various governmental, non-governmental and international organizations.
The participants debated on the following subjects: Foreign terrorist fighters in the PKK, Human rights violations by the PKK, Elimination of Kurdish and Arab Opposition by the PKK in the north of Syria and the PKK’s history and organization in Syria.
In his intervention during the “Questions-Answers” part of the Panel, Mr. Küçükaydın stressed that Turkey has been actively engaged in a fight against the PKK since 1984. He underlined that Turkey is extremely concerned by the PKK/YPG terrorists use of children as human shields, the ethnic cleansing by PKK/YPG militants and the incorporation of foreign terrorist fighters into the PKK/YPG. He also informed the participants that the PABSEC has adopted the respective Reports and Recommendations regarding the fight against terrorism and that the PABSEC has reacted to the terrorist attacks, by adopting three Declarations on terrorism, in 2001, 2003 and 2015.
