Participation of Mr. Fuat Küçükaydın, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, in the 13th Session of the PUIC Conference, Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, 16-17 January 2018
Mr. Fuat Küçükaydın, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, participated in the 13th Session of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference, which took place in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, during 16-17 January 2018.
Mr. Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Mr. Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran addressed the gathering at the Opening Ceremony.
The meeting was held upon the invitation of the Islamic Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran and it was attended by 44 Delegations, 16 Speakers, 14 Deputy Speakers of the OIC Member States’ Parliaments. The agenda of the 13th Session of the PUIC Conference and related meetings included the important issues such as: fight against terrorism, current situation in Palestine, sanctions against Islamic countries, conditions of the refugees and the asylum seekers in Islamic countries, solidarity between Muslim minorities, fight against Islamophobia.
In his intervention, Mr. Küçükaydın stressed the importance of the huge economic projects which are crossing the BSEC Region, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline (fully operational since 2006), Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway (launched in October 2017), the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP), which are currently under construction. He underlined that these projects represent very important energy routes, not only for the Black Sea Region, but for the whole Europe.
The 13th Session of the PUIC Conference culminated with the adoption of the Tehran Declaration. In the framework of the 13th Session of the PUIC Conference, took place the 7th Summit of the Muslim Women Parliamentarians.
