Visit of Mr. Angel Angelov, Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Istanbul, to the PABSEC International Secretariat Istanbul, 31 October 2017
Mr. Angel Angelov, Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Istanbul, accompanied by Mr. Toshko Tomov, Consul, Trade and Economic Affairs Department, General Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in Istanbul, paid a visit to the PABSEC International Secretariat, on 31 October 2017, and met with Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
In the framework of the meeting, Mr. Angelov transmitted an official invitation to the PABSEC Secretary General to participate as a key speaker at the Interparliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy, which will take place in Sofia, during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU), at the beginning of the next year.
The Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria provided information regarding the preparation of the forthcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, which will take place in the first half of 2018. He pointed out that numerous high-level events will be organized in the framework of the Presidency, gathering representatives of the EU Member States and the European Parliament.
The PABSEC Secretary General accepted the invitation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and informed the General Consul on the current PABSEC activities and the preparatory events dedicated to the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Assembly. He also underlined the possibility of organizing a round table with the participation of PABSEC members during the Bulgarian EU Presidency.
The Secretary General of the PABSEC thanked to the Bulgarian Consul General for his visit, wished him success in his future professional activity, and underlined the important role of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and the outstanding contribution of the PABSEC Bulgarian Delegation to the Assembly’s activities.
