THE 25th ANNIVERSARY SUMMIT OF THE ORGANIZATION OF THE BLACK SEA ECONOMIC COOPERATION, Istanbul, 22 May 2017
The Summit of the Heads of State and Government dedicated to the Anniversary of 25 Years since the establishment of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), was held in Istanbul, on 22 May 2017, in the Lutfi Kirdar International Congress and Exhibition Centre.
His Excellency Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, welcomed the participants in the Summit.
The Summit was attended by the Presidents of the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Moldova, the Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prime Ministers of the Russian Federation and of the Republic of Turkey, the Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria, the First Deputy Prime Ministers of Georgia, the Republic of Serbia and Ukraine, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania and the of Republic of Armenia. In their speeches, the Heads of State and Government evaluated the achievements of the Organization and discussed the prospects of the future cooperation in the Region.
The Summit was also attended by representatives of international organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations in Turkey and of the diplomatic corps.
The Summit was preceded, on 21 May 2017, by a Special Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, which prepared a draft Joint Declaration.
As a result of the Summit, the Joint Declaration was adopted.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, the PABSEC Secretary General, took part in the Anniversary Events in Istanbul, marking 25 Years since the establishment of the Organization of the BSEC.
