The Forty-Ninth Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee, Chisinau, 17-18 May 2017
The Forty-Ninth Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee was held in Chisinau on 17-18 May 2017, upon the invitation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Michael Yemelianov, Chairman of the Committee and Head of the PABSEC Russian Delegation and addressed by Mrs. Violeta Ivanov, PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the PABSEC Moldovan Delegation.
Mr. Ramazan Can, Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation, presented the draft Report on “The Role of Parliaments in Strengthening Legislative Framework for Economic Growth and Social Integration”. The draft Recommendation 156/2017 on the same subject was presented by Mr. Michael Yemelianov, Chairman of the Committee.
The Committee discussed and approved the draft Report and the draft Recommendation 156/2017 on “The Role of Parliaments in Strengthening Legislative Framework for Economic Growth and Social Integration” that will be submitted to the consideration of the Forty-Ninth Plenary Session of the Assembly, to be held in Istanbul on 4-6 July 2017.
The Committee endorsed the amendments to the PABSEC Rules of Procedure and the Staff Regulations of the PABSEC International Secretariat adopted by consensus at the Working Group on the Rules of Procedure in Istanbul in February 2017.
The Committee considered the draft Declaration of the Assembly on the 25th Anniversary of the BSEC that will be submitted to the Standing Committee of the Forty-Ninth General Assembly, to be held in Istanbul on 5 July 2017.
The Committee elected Mr. Namik Dokle (Albania) for the post of the Chairman and Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili (Georgia) and Mr. Michael Yemelianov (Russia) for the posts of the Vice-Chairmen of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee for a two-year term.
The Fiftieth Meeting of the Committee will take place in Russia, on 25-26 October 2017. The main item on the Agenda will be “The 25 Years of the PABSEC: Prospects for Strengthening Interparliamentary Cooperation in the Region”.
The national delegations from Albania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine participated in the Meeting.
