Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, in the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul, on 5-6 April 2017
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit, organized by the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation in Istanbul, on 5-6 April 2017.
Mr. Mehmet Şımşek, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, Mr. Mustafa Gültepe, Vice-President of Istanbul Ready-Made Garment Exporters’ Association, Mr. Ibrahim Çağlar, President of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, addressed the gathering, at the Opening Ceremony.
H.E. Mr. Bujar Nishani, President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Mladen Ivanic, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and H.E. Mr. Gjorge Ivanov, President of FYROM, also addressed the audience.
The former Presidents of Serbia and Croatia, and the former Prime Ministers of Romania and Slovenia also attended and had speech at the Summit.
During his speech at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, stated that the Black Sea Region is a bridge between Asia and Europe, being rich in energy resources and including important energy routes from Central Asia and Caspian Region, also representing an outstanding source of oil and gas for the world markets. He noted that, since its establishment, the PABSEC revealed itself as a genuine forum of inter-parliamentary dialogue in the Black Sea Region, mobilizing the efforts of the national parliaments, aiming at promoting the values of democracy, rule of law, pluralistic societies and market economies.
On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Summit, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev was awarded with the Medal of Honour of the Marmara Group Foundation, as a recognition of his special attachment and cooperation with this prestigious Foundation.
The PABSEC Secretary General underlined the idea that the partnership with the Marmara Foundation will continue to have positive results, contributing to the development of mutual projects of great interest for our region.
