Participation of Mr. Ramazan Can, Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation, in the 2017 OECD Global Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum, 30-31 March 2017, Paris
Mr. Ramazan Can, the Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation, accompanied by Mr. Ersin Aydin, the Legislative Expert of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, participated in the 2017 Global Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum, which was held in Paris, by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), on 30-31 March 2017.
Being attended by participants from over 30 countries, the Forum brought together government officials, parliamentarians, members of the business community and non-governmental organizations.
During the two-day sessions, several meetings were organized, on the following topics: Re-Gaining Public Trust through Integrity, Corporate Liability for Corruption and other Economic Crimes, and Anti-Corruption in Development Cooperation.
The PABSEC stressed several times that the PABSEC Member Countries have to improve their national strategies in the fight against economic crime, in particular, in its organized forms, such as corruption, money laundering, merchandise smuggling etc. The effective and efficient cooperation between the BSEC Member States in this field is an important aspect of strengthening the social and the economic stability, national security and principles of market economy in the region.
In the framework of this Forum, the links between corruption and terrorism have also been emphasized. The participants noted that the corruption and abuse of the public office represent a blight for democracies and a drain on public finances. They stressed the necessity of raising integrity to higher standards, promoting trust in government and politics, stimulating fair competition and economic growth, shaping a fair playing field for business, in order to foster a responsible business conduct.
