Participation of Mrs. Violeta Ivanov, PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the PABSEC Moldovan Delegation, in the PAM/UNODC high-level Parliamentary Conference, Rome, Italy, 30-31March 2017
The PABSEC Vice-President, Mrs. Violeta Ivanov, Head of the PABSEC Moldovan Delegation participated in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (PAM/UNODC) high-level parliamentary Conference on the “Evaluation of implementation by national parliaments of the United Nations Council Resolutions on Terrorism and Foreign Terrorist Fighters” held in the Italian Parliament, Rome, Italy, on 30-31March 2017.
On 31 March 2017, Mrs. Violeta Ivanov addressed the Conference. In her intervention, she stressed that, as a unique political forum of inter-parliamentary dialogue in the Black Sea area, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation has played an irreplaceable role in mobilizing the efforts of the national parliaments, aiming at promoting the values of democracy, rule of law, pluralistic societies and free market economies. Mrs. Ivanov informed the participants about the PABSEC activities in this field and noted that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation has discussed and approved the Report on “The Role of Religion in Fight Against Terrorism and Extremism” during the Forty-Eight PABSEC General Assembly, held in Belgrade on 29 November -1 December 2016.
The PABSEC Vice-President underlined that many countries in the BSEC region have suffered and continue to suffer from the threat of terrorism and extremism, and informed the Conference participants of the PABSEC efforts and activities to promote cooperation in combating organized crime and terrorism.
