The Special Meeting of the PABSEC Standing Committee, Istanbul, 22 February 2017
The Special Meeting of Standing Committee, dedicated to the celebration of the 24th Anniversary of the PABSEC establishment took place in Istanbul on 22 February 2017.
The meeting was attended by the parliamentary delegations of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine and Special PABSEC Representative to the Silk Road Projects and the PABSEC Special Representative to the European Parliament and European Institutions. The representatives of the Permanent International Secretariat of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC PERMIS), Secretary General of the Union of Road Transport Associations in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Region (BSEC-URTA) and the diplomatic corps participated in the meeting.
In the course of the meeting, the participants discussed the twenty-four-year successful cooperation and exchanged their views on the preparatory work for the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the PABSEC in 2018. During the discussions concerning the Draft Plan of Action on the Occasion of the PABSEC 25th Anniversary, special focus was placed on the coordination of the priorities, holding the meetings and the synchronization of the activities.
In the framework of this meeting, it was also discussed the enhancement of the PABSEC status. The participants noted the importance of this document for the future PABSEC activities, underlining that eleven, out of twelve Parliaments of the BSEC Member States, supported the Declaration on “Strengthening the Status of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation”, (excluding Armenia). In this respect, the Head of the PABSEC Armenian Delegation was asked to make an effort that will bring to the signing of the Declaration.
