The Spring Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Strasbourg, 18-22 April 2016
On 18-20 April 2016, Mr. Daniel DULCA, Deputy Secretary General of the PABSEC participated in the Spring Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council in Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg.
The President of Austria, Heinz Fischer, the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, the Prime Ministers of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu, addressed the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe during its Spring session.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Daniel Mitov in his capacity of Chairman of the Committee of Ministers addressed the Assembly and the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Nils Muižnieks, presented his annual activity report for 2015. The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, answered the questions from parliamentarians.
The refugees and migrant crisis in Europe were also included in the agenda, with debates on a stronger European response to the Syrian refugee crisis, the human rights of refugees and migrants in the Western Balkans and the new challenges posed by forced migration.
Mr. Daniel DULCA had a meeting with Mr. Wojciech Sawicki, the Secretary General of the PACE. During the discussions, the Deputy Secretary General of the PABSEC underlined the importance of strengthening the relations with the PACE, and, in this respect, he proposed, on behalf of Mr. Asaf HAJIYEV, the Secretary General of the PABSEC, to organize, in the near future, a joint meeting in Strasbourg or Istanbul, between the Standing Committee of the PABSEC and PACE.
The two sides discussed other important issues concerning the activities of the two Assemblies, focusing on the organization of the next 47th General Assembly of the PABSEC which is due to be held in Moscow, on 28-30 June 2016.
