Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, the Secretary General of the PABSEC participated in the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit organized by the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation on 6 April 2016 in Istanbul.
The Secretary General of the PABSEC underlined the idea that the partnership with Marmara Foundation will further have positive results and contribute to the development of mutual projects of great interests for our cooperation.
During the debates, Mr. Hajiyev underlined some important ideas which are of utmost importance for our region and worldwide. Concerning terrorism he stressed out the idea that the PABSEC is deeply concerned that terrorist threats represent the major challenges facing the international community. In this respect, our Organization adopted three Declarations on terrorism in 2001, 2003 and 2015, condemning these acts and calling upon the member states to join efforts in combating this serious threat.
Other important issues placed on the agenda of our organisation were represented by the multilateral economic cooperation and sustainable development. Starting with 1993, since its establishment, the PABSEC revealed itself as a genuine forum of inter-parliamentary dialogue in the Black Sea Region, mobilising the efforts of the national parliaments, aimed at promoting the values of democracy, rule of law, pluralistic societies and market economies.
The Secretary General of the PABSEC concluded that through common efforts we have to unify in promoting the interests of our people and to continue along the road of good neighbourliness , peace, stability and prosperity and not only for our region but worldwide.
