Visit of H.E. Dimitris Mardas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, to the PABSEC International Secretariat, Istanbul, 19 November 2015
H.E. Dimitris Mardas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, paid a visit to the PABSEC International Secretariat in Istanbul on 19 November 2015. Mr. Dimitris Mardas was accompanied by the Consul General of Greece in Istanbul, Mr. Evangelos Sekeris, the Secretary General of BSEC PERMIS, Amb. Michael B. Christides, the First Deputy Secretary General of BSEC PERMIS, Amb. Tahsin Burcuοğlu and the Head of the Department for Economic & Commercial Affairs of the Greek General Consulate Mr. Doukas Marinopoulos.
PABSEC Secretary General Mr. Asaf Hajiyev welcomed them to the PABSEC premises and informed the Deputy Minister briefly on the current and forthcoming activities of the Assembly and the working order at the International Secretariat. Mr. Hajiyev underlined the importance of the Declaration on Strengthening the Status of the PABSEC, a process that has been started last June in Chisinau and has already been signed by eight (8) member parliaments. He stated that the accomplishment of this process will develop further the fruitful cooperation with the BSEC PERMIS and evolve PABSEC into a more effective instrument for addressing the priority tasks in the Black Sea Region.
Mr. Dimitris Mardas expressed his positive view on that initiative and thanked Mr, Hajiyev for the hospitality and the information provided and he commended the two Secretaries General, Mr. Hajiyev and Mr. Christides, for their fruitful cooperation.
Mr. Hajiyev expressed his belief that this cooperation will further develop, solving long term problems that Black Sea region is facing. Mutual action between the PABSEC and the BSEC on the basis of equality and common strategy will determines the success of achieving the objectives and achieving the concrete results stated Mr. Hajiyev.
PABSEC Secretary General expressed his will to visit Athens and informed the Deputy Minister and the other visitors about the meeting requested from the new President of the Hellenic Parliament in order to inform him about PABSEC activities and initiatives.
